Tips to boost your e-Commerce Sales During Easter

The high demands and large volume of sales during the Xmas festive period has been and gone and now Easter is here all within the blink of an eye.

This is a time to relax during the easter bank holidays with family and friends to maybe plan a few days out (weather permitting of course). No matter what you get up to this Easter, one thing you can guarantee is there will be many people scouring the internet to buy something.  This is great news for eCommerce sellers and buyers alike as they will see an influx of orders/sales during this time of year.

Last year both retail and eCommerce businesses experience the benefits of Easter in the UK   there was a 10% increase in online e-Commerce sales during April 2022 – thanks to Easter.

In Denmark a new record was broken 1.78 billion more in sales, and it didn’t stop there as Swedish businesses earned an additional 2 billion in sales during the same period. Imagine all the Easter eggs you could buy with that type of money?

Easter presents major sales opportunities for eCommerce businesses. We all know chocolate and easter eggs in particular sell well, but so do other items such as flowers, gifts, clothes, food and drink etc…. but other retailers might also want to consider preparing well for the holidays, as it will present a massive opportunity to grow sales.

Throughout Europe the average person will have between 4-5 days off work during the Easter period. This downtime means vast amounts of people browse the web for shopping as well as being active on social media, compared to a usual working week where people get 1 or 2 days off.

Easter is a window of opportunity for buyers and sellers alike, This blog will give you some food for thought on how you may take advantage of the Easter period:

Special Offers

Offering discounted rates on certain product lines, this is always a winner and gives you an competitive eggs, sorry I mean edge over your competitors. The bestselling retailers usually envisage what the consumer might be doing during the Easter period, then predict what they may be looking for online.

Give it a go……….

What will potential customers be doing during Easter?

Having family meals, going the gym, doing some DIY, going the beach, attending a social event like a concert or a footy game, spending time in the garden etc…

What will potential customer be looking to buy during Easter?

Based on some of the likely activities mentioned above then sell what products people will consider to buy in these, situations, and possibly promote them products with a special discount 10%, 20% or even 50% off.

By predicting peoples activities then you can try influence what they may want to buy or what may sell well during this period.

Create a sense of urgency

This can be done in a number of ways!

Stock going fast be quick before it’s gone. Clearance Stock when it’s gone it’s gone!   BOGOF! I’m not being rude here, but for those who don’t know it stands for Buy One Get One Free.

As you can see by creating a sense of urgency, you can experiment with different kinds of offers to boost sales during the holidays.

Do whatever you can do take advantage of the increased online traffic during Easter period, in order to maximise sales best way you can, by encouraging the shopper to buy sooner so they can save more.

Social Media

Use Social Media as a tool to sell more and this can be done without taking up too much time.

A few things you can do to get a better reach to potential buyers is the do a puzzle or a game, or do a giveaway, to get people interested on your post. Remember the more interest you get on a social media post the more people that will see it.

Giving something away for nothing usually gets the most attention the more likes and comments you get on your post the wider audience you will reach. Here’s an Easter example for you.

Put lots of Easter eggs on a table all different shapes, sizes and colours, then take a photo from distance asking someone to guess the number of eggs in the picture. Ask you target audience to put the number off eggs in the picture in the comments box. Whoever gets it right wins a Free Easter Egg or All the eggs in the picture, you deicide the prize.

Whatever you sell online you could adopt the above type of promotion to raise awareness of your brand and in turn hopefully benefit from some extra sales.  You can also decide how many winners you want, it could be one, it could be more. Ultimately you have control over how much you want the promotion to cost you.

Together with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Easter is an important shopping event of the year. It gives business owners a chance to add creativity to their sales and marketing activities as mentioned above so let get geared up for this special occasion.
